Khaled studied computer science at the American University in Cairo. In 1996, he co-founded Link Egypt and helped build Egypt’s early commercial internet ecosystem. He spent the rest of his working life building technology and telecommunications businesses.
People knew him as KGB. His first name, Khaled, means something that lasts forever.
The scholarship was founded in his memory in 2024, at the university he went to, in the subjects he worked in. It began with a single place. A new group of scholars has joined every year since, and each group guides the one after it.
Education gave Khaled tools to build. The scholarship carries that belief forward through the next generation.
Today, LINK brings the same commitment to university and vocational education: people coming together so others can learn, grow and find their own way.
